All nations cup 2019

Active Opportunities & Lindfield FC once again joined forces to deliver the much loved community 5 aside tournament, The All Nations Cup. The All Nations Cup invites players to represent their nation of origin as an individual or as a team, competing against other nations to be crowned the champions.

In 2019, 12 teams took part in the Cup, competing for the silverware which has previously been won by Ireland twice and England (MerseyBlue).

The 2019 Cup attracted local sponsors Shapeshifters (Scotty Ryan - https://www.shape-shifters.com.au/) and Acumen Insurance (http://acumeninsurance.com.au/), supporting a great cause and significantly contributing to the days success.

All monies raised from the Cup are invested into the Active Opportunities programs, allowing AO to keep costs low and support overheads that go with running a charity.

The day was played out in good spirits with more mixed teams (female and male) than previous years. After the group stage the draw was split with the top eight teams playing for the Cup, whilst the bottom four play off for the All Nations Shield.

The All Nations shield final saw Mauritius take home silverware despite not winning a game during the initial group stages.

The final was a hotly contested match between Belgium and Australia (above), with the Australians coming out of top to win the 2019 All Nations Cup.

Active Opportunities would like to thank all sponsors, players and supporters of the event, particularly Victor Vitorovic from Lindfield Sports Centre.
